Application Guidelines


Character Choice

Before you fill in your application, here are a few tips on character choice :

General - SquareYou cannot apply for 'God', or any of the gods in religions whether real -Jesus, Yahweh, Thor- or fictional -Alanis Morisette as God in Dogma-.

General - Square Characters such as Angels and Demons however are fine as long as they come from a fictional, literary or pop-culture source.

General - SquareThere can be no duplications, Gabriel in Angel Sanctuary is the same for our purposes as Gabriel from Constantine, just like Subaru from X and Subaru from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.

General - SquareThe character must be from a fictional published or televised source. Celebrities, and original or fanfiction characters need not apply. Historical personages are available if they are a)dead and not likely to annoy anyone and b)can be found in fictional sources. Essentially, you can't play George Bush, but Lincon would be ok if he's, for example, the Simpson's version.

Canon characters ~ Angel Sanctuary

If you are applying for an Angel Sanctuary character, that is a character from the canon backdrop of the game, your character will start with the knowledge he or she had at the beginning of book 4, when Sarah dies and Adam Kadamon freezes the world. You unfortunately can't pick the point in canon that your character comes from.

If you are applying for a Greater Angel or a Satan, please make sure to answer with the extra information asked in the application form. Other players will be looking to you for information, so don't apply for a Greater Angel or a Demon if you can't be very active (appearance in more than a log or a network posting a week).

Additionally, Hell and Heaven at times use canon characters to further plot. You are fully able to apply for and take over these characters. We will be doing our best to use them sparingly, and welcome your applying for them. We'd rather have active players developing them, than sit on them outselves. Double check with the Taken Character list (Available NPCs wont appear on it. ex. Kurai and Arachne) and if you're worried about backround, give us an email and we'll help fill you in. Basically only Rosiel and Mad Hatter/Belial are taken at this point in the game.

Heaven or Hell? Fight!

Once you have chosen your character, it's time to decide his role in the war about to erupt. (We can not promise to give you your first choice, if the sides are too unbalanced we may need to assign people where they are needed.)

Imagine your character just died.
Where would he end up, in your opinion? In Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory?

Did your character sin in his previous life?
Does he accept authority? Is he rebellious?
Is he a believer or a skeptic?
Is he neutral? Or does he have very contrasted opinions?

Please note that all characters will start as demons in Hell or archangels in Heaven, and will then work their way towards the Choir or the Satan of their choice. It is possible to become a Satan or a Great Angel, but through IC means only. Plot your way to the top.

Occupation: For angels, choose a Choir (or let the mods choose for you), for humans, you have the option of choosing an area of specialization (medicine, lore, theology, mechanics etc.).

*Writing samples (the necessary evil)*

First-person canon sample: Please write a first-person sample as your character in their Canon. This is a journal type sample. "Today I ate lunch and took the dog for a walk. It was sunny…"

Third-person canon sample: Please write a third-person sample as your character in their canon. "Sam didn't really appreciate his wife's cooking. There was something about the mung-bean in loaf form that bothered him, but…" This sample should be approximately 2 to 4 paragraphs.

Third-person game sample: Please write a Third-person Sample-log of your character in Heaven, Hell or having recently awoken on Earth, so we can see your character out of their canon.
